CHANGING NO1-3--- CHANGE OF DIRECTION!

I have Decided to change one of my originally proposed briefs.
I am changing briefs no.1 - The Ibiza Spotlight Calendar

I have decided to do this as I have had another idea for a brief which i hadn't had though of before the proposal form was written. The new idea has inspired me a lot and i have found myself getting distracted with thoughts and ideas about it, so I have decided to drop the calendar brief as i havnt started any design work for it yet, and it would be the most time consuming brief, so it makes sense to drop it and focus on my new idea...

which is to create/design an information pack for charity shoppers in west yorkshire.

Charity shopping is one of my most time consuming hobbys...

Brief Title: A info pack for Charity shoppers in leeds ' Become a charity shop Expert'

Brief:
Reflect on a body of investigative research and personal experience in order to produce an interactive range of information graphics which promotes, informs and educate's people about charity shopping in leeds.

Background/ Considerations:

Explore into the pro's and cons of the subjetct
Document and blog all evidence for why the pack is usefull.
Propose events and MOD.
Produce appropriate deliverables e.g choose stocks, layout, colour and type wisely

Deliverables:

Printed design matter on a range of stocks and different interactive pieces of design.
An event.
Online presence 'digital media'

Brief no.4 Fashion student collab

It could be possible to have the images in monochrome within the book, and some pages be image only, but have the information for the garments on the first page like a key with numbers to keep it extra simple, reflecting Naomis concept of minimalism, but this solely depends on what the images from the shoot turn out like, and if Naomi wants her images to be edited, i will also have to check with the photographer also.....
Thinking about how the book will be photographed too, keeping the background completely white might not be a good idea as the book would blend in with the white surface, so maybe wood like the images below would be a good idea.

Brief no.4 Fashion student collab

Some layout and inspirations for Naomis look book, focusing on minimalism, taking her concept of white for femininity and masculine clothes, i want to keep the layout very simple, black and white, and only use the colour from images from her shoot.

Brief no.4 Fashion student collab

For my final brief i will be collaborating with Naomi Shacleton, a student in leeds college of art studying fashion.
Naomi has asked me to brand her as a fashion designer as she will be graduating at the end of the year and needs more of a professional presence within the fashion industry.
I am proposing to create an entire personal identity for Naomi inspired by her final collection which she is currently working on as it will be her most professional and finished garment that she will have made

I have had a look at some of naomis previous projects and looked through her sketchbooks which i will   post within my design context, i have had a feel of her inspirations and way of working, and these are the words which sprung to mind so far....

-sophistication
-quality
-pure
-fine
-superior
-desirable
-definite
-clear
-minimal

Brief no.2 D&AD Batiste

This is the second brief that i have chosen, a competition brief set by D&AD.
I have selected this brief as i felt i needed a competition brief within my FMP as it will be much more challenging and will give me more of a precise direction to work towards.
The brief includes pattern design elements which is something that i am interested in, then they are to be applied to graphic design in certain packaging dimensions that have been given in PDF's.

Brief no.3 / FSB

This is a logo idea we might use, using the concept of stitching and taking inspiration from our design context, frankie is going to continue to work on the logo as we feel it is not as readable as we want it to be, although it is hitting all the boxes in the criteria so far e.g it is modern, contrasting from our old images, and it is also sophisticated.

Brief no.3 / FSB

This is the content for our boards, including information about our concept and design ideas, we have decided to print them out onto the stock we are using for the booklet and stick them onto our boards making it easily readable for the fashion committee.

Brief no.3 / FSB

Today i tested out some screen printing inks to see the variations of neon green we could use, we also want to use the nearest colour match for the thread we will use for the stitching...
We will be using one of these green's for screen printing our deliverables

Brief no.3 / FSB

Consolas is one type that we could use, concept explained in previous post...

Brief no.3 / FSB

Some nice type, this typewriter style font if frequently used by the fashion student within the presentation of they work and in their sketchbooks, we are thinking of using this kind of type for the information within the booklet as it fit in well with the fashion show as a whole.

Brief no.3 / FSB

Again some nice inspiration for the fashion show booklet and overall design, monochrome images reflecting the old venue and contrasting to one colour which we are thinking of, neon green, keeping with the concept of old and new.

Brief no.3 / FSB

Brief no.3 / FSB

some inspiration for the fashion show design.

We found some branding of a fashion designer, the logo is stitched to bind the paper together, this is something we want to look into per suing, to reflect the fashion students way of working with stitches, stitching the fabrics together to create a garment, using the concept of this for putting our book together using stitch...

i also like the monochrome images, they look sophisticated, which is something that the brief requires in our design direction

Brief no.3 / FSB

Colour considerations

This is a information booklet i found about the exhibitions in leeds college of art of september - july 2013.
I like the layout and colour theme of the book, i like the contrast of the monochrome image and the green colour of the stock, we are thinking of having this type of colour scheme throughout the design for the Fashion show, at the moment we are thinking of using a lime/neon green as quite a lot of the garments made throughout the fashion course's first module included this colour, it is also quite a modern colour, representing the new ideas and garments that the students have produced.
As the venue of the fashion show is in an old mill recently converted into a nightclub, the neon green also reflects the purpose of the venue too as it is an electric colour.
The reason why we want to use just one colour with black and white is so that it portrays the contrast between the old venue and the new work being presented in it during the show.

Depending on what naomi wants from her shoot, i am hoping that she gets some of the garments off the model too so i can maybe have a separate zine or small booklet of just the clothes, so it focuses on her garments and not the way its shot on the model.

Love these images, great inspiration towards my practise in general

Brief no.1 / Judith Chapman Florist

Breif no.3 / FSB

I like the colours on this piece of editorial, the pastel colours really compliment the bold sans serif type as they contrast.

Breif no.3 / FSB

Today Frankie, Kirsty and i had our first meeting to formally discuss ideas for the fashion show branding.
We have decided to contact the heads of fashion committee to tell them what we have got in mind so far, we are waiting for a reply but until ten we are continuing to research into our ideas so far which we feel pretty excited about!

the brief mentions that the tone f voice should be...

Clear, concise, professional, cutting edge, contemporary – Despite the rustic feel to the venue our vision for the interior of the event is clean and minimal.

And after further discussions after highlighting these considerations we kept reverting back to the same concept of 'old and new' , 'vintage and modern' , 'classical meets modern' , 'young styles having a vintage edge' and 'renewing previous fashion styles' so we have decided to stick with this, these are some topics that relate to the concept...

-the students new garments/styles with a vintage edge or inspiration
-the garments/styles at the fashion show in an old mill

We feel like this concept reflects the whole vibe of the fashion course and the event well.

Breif no.3 / FSB

Some ink and flower leaked images made to look like abstracts bouquets, these have been used for installation wall graphics at a fashion show, i love the burst of colour, although the image is so striking, the models still stand out.

Brief no.3 / FSB

Kirsty, Frankie and I are proposing to design the visual identity for the leeds college of art fashion show.

LEEDS COLLEGE OF ART
GRADUATE FASHION SHOW 2013 LIVE BRIEF

Visual identity for Leeds Graduate Fashion Show 2013.

INFORMATION ON THE EVENT

The third year fashion students are beginning to organise their annual fashion show for 2013. We would like to give one/or a collaborative group of the third year graphics students the opportunity to get on board and come up with an innovative and dynamic concept for the graphics for the event.

In previous years the two fashion pathways (fashion design and fashion innovation) have organised two separate events, however this year we will be organising a joint event consisting of a fashion show and exhibition at the same venue. This year we will be hold the event at the newly opened Canal Mills. Canal Mills is an old textile factory recently converted into an events space. We would like the history and character of the space to be used as direction for the concept of the graphics. The link for the website is shown below

Brief no.1 / Calendar

Also displaying the poster at big music events around the country like canal mills and the warehouse project will be a way of communicating to my audience as most people attend go to ibiza through the same type of music at the events.

Brief no.1 / Calendar

In terms of deliverables, i am proposing that the posters and leaflets will be put inside and in the windows of travel agents, attracting people to travel to ibiza, this would be the perfect place for displaying it to the correct audience.

Brief no.1 Calendar

I found another online calendar for ibiza events, this one more like a scrap book diary
